Giving back to the sport we love is important to us as a company. It is something we require of our ambassadors. Next Tuesday, February 18th, Matt Grajewski will be helping to raise money for the Northview HS Fly Fishing Squad in Michigan. Each year, the club heads west for a fly fishing trip. It is an opportunity some would not have without the help of the club, and it’s advisor, Rich Youngberg. Rich works for the school district and volunteers his time to lead multiple, outdoor-based youth groups.

The event will include a presentation by Matt, as well as a raffle. There were some very generous donations for the raffle again this year. Rods from Echo, fly lines from Scientific Anglers, tool kit from Renzetti, guided fly fishing trips from Kevin Feenstra, Jeff Hubbard, and Brad Petzke, a signed book from Kelly Galloup, a custom knife from R.Braendle Knifeworks, and flies tied by Matt Grajewski, Erich Gross, and Carl Baird. Matt will also be demonstrating the benefits of using natural and synthetic materials in combination. He will tie a few different patterns during the presentation.
This year the young anglers will be backpacking the Wind River Range of Wyoming in hopes of finding the elusive golden trout. Besides heading out west, the group participates in river clean-ups, stream restorations, and learning to tie and fly fish.
The event will once again be held at Rockford Brewing Company in Rockford, MI. They were generous enough to donate the space necessary to host a large group. Nomad Anglers is also playing a vital role in the fundraiser. Between spreading the word and setting up for the event, it couldn’t happen without their help. You need to be present to win a raffle prize. If you would like to donate, please contact Rich Youngberg at ryoungberg@nvps.net.
