1. How do I take care of my vise?
Periodically apply light machine oil to all moving parts.
Humidity may cause your vise to rust. We suggest you store your vise in a dry place when
not in use. Never leave your vise exposed to the elements or in your boat for an extended period of time.
.
The jaw o-ring will eventually break but replacements can be purchased from us, click on misc. tools and then on spare parts kit, or most hardware stores carries a #12 neoprene O-ring .
2. Where can I purchase your vises?
We have many dealers world wide. Please refer to our Home Page where you
can search for our dealers by their City or Postal Code. If you are searching for a Dealer outside the USA, please click on the + on advanced search and choose the country.
3. What is the purpose of the Bobbin Cradle?
The Bobbin Cradle enables you to pull
thread straight out from the hook. This prevents the thread from
wrapping around the hook shank while rotary tying. Proper placement
of the cradle while rotary tying should be directly inline with the
hook shank and centerline of the rotary shaft. If you don't need
the cradle in the tying process, simply swing it out of the way.
4. What is True Rotary?
The True Rotary feature allows you to rotate the hook a complete 360 degrees with perfect
hook alignment. This insures that the application of thread or tying
materials is smooth and uniform.
5. What are the advantages of True Rotary compared to stationary tying?
There are two distinct advantages of our True
Rotary vise. The full rotation capability allows you to view the fly from
virtually any position without having to move the vise or remove the fly
from the vise's jaw. Secondly, you can apply material by rotating the hook
instead of wrapping with the bobbin by hand.
6. How do I use the Parachute Attachment?
You will need a hackle plier to use our
Parachute Attachment. You need to attach one end of the hackle plier
to the Parachute Attachment spring and hold your material with the
other.
7. How do I use or adjust the Rotary Actuator?
This is used to rotate the vise on the
Presentation and Master series. The rotary actuator can be used either
in a fixed position, (allowing the vise to rotate in either direction),
or adjusted to rotate in only one direction and free rotation in the
other direction, (which allows you to swing the handle down out of the way).
Check Video for more details.
8. What is the Clouser vise or Clouser Arm?
The unique design of these vises are engineered
to facilitate proper material placement along the hook shank which is
critical for achieving the silhouettes and profiles these patterns require.
With the exception of the rotary shaft, the Clouser Series offers the same
features as the Traveler Series including the ability to rotate the vise 360
degrees.
9. What is the proper hook placement?
To insure years of trouble-free service from
your vise, correct hook placement in the jaws is vitally important. We
ask you to please review your instructions for proper hook placement.
Improper hook placement will cause your jaw to break. Placing the hook
on the extreme tip of the jaw and overtightening the clamping screw or
putting too much force on the cam will eventually cause your jaw to break
or chip off. Failures of this type are not covered under warranty. There
are 3-jaw positions, (for the Traveler and the Presentations 2000 & 4000), according
to hook size.
10. What is the purpose of the Traveler Base Stem?
The height of the vise is designed to achieve
maximum stability for the base. Generally, longer stems yield less stability.
However, our stem extension for the Presentation 3000, 4000 and Master Series will afford maximum height with no appreciable
loss in stability.
11. Where is the Master Video?
The instructional video that used to come
with the Master Vise has been replaced with written instructions. We no
longer provide this video.
12. Will the Saltwater Traveler jaws work on my Traveler Vise?
No. The Saltwater jaws only work with the
Saltwater Traveler vise. The jaws are too big to fit into the Traveler
vise jaw housing.
13. How can I convert my Traveler vise into a Saltwater Traveler vise?
You can do this by buying a Saltwater Traveler
vise head only (top part of vise that will fit into your existing stem)
or buy purchasing a Saltwater Traveler bent shaft and a set of Saltwater
Traveler jaws.
14. What does the warning label on the products mean?
The State of California passed the
"Safe Drinking and Toxic Enforcement of 1986" better known as Prop 65.
While we believe our products are not harmful, we are required to post
this label on products sold in California. We made the decision to
place this label on all products, regardless of who buys the products.
What does Prop 65 require?
Proposition 65 requires the Governor to
publish a list of chemicals that are known to the State of California
to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Agents that
cause cancer are called carcinogens; those that cause birth
defects or other reproductive harm are called reproductive toxicants.
This list must be updated at least once a year. Over 700 chemicals have
been listed as of March 10, 2000.
What kind of chemicals are on the list?
The list contains a wide range of chemicals,
including dyes, solvents, pesticides, drugs, food additives, and byproducts
of certain processes. These chemicals may be naturally occurring, or
synthetic. Some of them are ingredients of common household products,
others are specialty chemicals used in very specific industrial
applications.
What is the warranty on my vise?
Renzetti warrants that all its products will
be free from non conformities in materials and workmanship for the life
of the vise. Wear and tear are not covered under the warranty. Please read
the product's instructions to avoid possible damages due to improper hook
placement or rust.
How do I file a claim?
Please call us or email us for a repair
authorization number, return the product, postage pre-paid, to
Renzetti Inc., 8800 Grissom Pkwy, Titusville, FL 32780. Include a note
explaining the problem and a day time phone number. If the repair of
your product is not covered under the warranty, we will invoice you for
parts, labor and shipping.
